Leigh Melrose

Three months were spent at Madrid’s Teatro Real as Cecil in a new production of Britten’s Gloriana and as Stolzius in a revival of Zimmerman’s Die Soldaten.

Gloriana was directed by David McVicar and was conducted by Ivor Bolton with Anna Caterina Antonacci as Elizabeth I. Die Soldaten was directed by Calixto Bieito and conducted by Pablo Heras-Casado.

“Leigh Melrose was technically flawless”

Die Soldaten – El Pais, 17 May 2018

Die Soldaten – Opera World, 24 May 2018

Looking (much) further ahead there will be a return to Madrid for a revival of Calixto’s The Fiery Angel from Zurich and a production of The Passenger. ¡Brillante!
